Each of the five Structural elements have specific qualities (Gunas)

Ether (Akasha)

The Ether Element (or Space Element, Akasha) is aboundant in the univers

as well as in our body (Oral and penvic cavities, porus of the skin, stomac, bladder, ..)

and is also present at the cellular level, or in Atoms

as the space where neurons and protons are present and the electrons revolve.

It is the basic element from which all the other elements arise.

Akasha means all-enclosing, all-pervading, omnipotent, omniscient

It serves as "home" for all the objects in the universe.
Ether provide freedom of movement and a space for love.

If you take an empty wessel close to your ear, you will notice that sound is always present

where there is enough space for it to expand, so sound is an integral part of space.

Attributes of Ether (Akasha);

Gunas (qualities): Clear, Light, Subtle, Soft, Immesurable.

Karmas (actions): Vibration, Expansion, Non-Resistence, Freedom, Love.

Tanmatras (Perception Object): Sound

Comparable to Nuclear Energy

Air (Vayu)

The Air Element (Vayu) is the principle of movement

necessary for keeping the body in constant motion.

When Ether move in a particular direction this same consciousnes becomes Air.

It is the intelligence that moves from cell to cell (a flow of consciousness).

The Vital Force of Air is called Prana and is necessary for all subtle and gross movements

within the cell, within the system, and whitin the physical body.

Sensory stimuli and motor responses are movements of Prana which govern

the Movement of the Heart, Respiration, Peristalsis and other involuntary movements.

Attributes of Air (Vayu or Prana)

Gunas (Qualities): Mobile, Dry, light, Cold, Rough, Subtle, Irregular

Karmas (Actions): Movement in a particular direction

Tanmatras (Perception Object): Touch, and Sound

Comparable to Electrical Energy

Fire (Agni)

The Fire Element (Agni) is the principle of Treansformation.

The movement of the Air Element in a particular direction create friction

where there is friction there is Fire.

Fire governs all the Metabolic processes, transform Food into Energy.

It regulate the Digestion, Absorption, and Assimilation of Food, Thoughts, and Emotions.

It also regulate Body Temperatures, Mental Focus, and the Perception of Colors.

Attributes of Fire (Agni)

Gunas (qualities): Hot, Sharp, Penetrating, Light, Dry, Subtle, Expansive

Karmas (actions): Brillance, Luminosity, Penetration, Focus, Intelligence

Tanmatras (Perception Object): Form, Touch, Sound

Comparable to Radiant Energy

Water (Apas)

The Water Element (Apas or Jala) is responsible for the cohesion

which keeps Electrons, Protons and Neutrons attracted towards each other.

Water provide the liquid portion of the human body like Urine, Plasma, Lymph, and so on.

It is the Universal Chemical Solvent which takes care of all the biochimical functions.

Water is necessary to the body for assimilation and to maintain electrolyte balance.

The Plasma in our blood is composed of approximately 90% water

it carries nutriments towards the whole body and molecules from cell to cell.

Oxygen, Food Particles, and Minerals

are all transported from one system to the next using the Water Element.

Attributes of Water (Apas or Jala);

Gunas (qualities): Cool, Liquid, Dull, Soft, Oily, Slimy

Karmas (actions): Downward Movement, Cleansing, Choesiveness, Adhesiveness, Percolation.

Tanmatras (Perception Object): Taste, Form, Touch, Sound

Comparable to Chemical Energy

Earth (Pruthivi)

The Earth Element (Pruthivi) is responsible for Stability, it is the mass, the solid form of existence.

It is present in the Atom as his solid form (Electrons, Protons, Neutrons),

and in the human body as Bones, Muscles, Fat, Cartilages, Neils, Teeth,

the structures of the Organs and of the whole Body.

All Solid Structures, Hard Firm and Compact ttissues derive from the Earth Element.

Attributes of Earth (Pruthivi)

Gunas (qualities): Heavy, Dull, Static, Dense, Hard, Gross.

Karmas (actions): Gravitation, Downward Attraction.

Tanmatras (Perception Object): Odor, Taste, Form, Touch, Sound.

Comparable to Mechanical Energy.
